In the pump parts, mechanical seal is a very important part, and mechanical seal is also a vulnerable part. If the mechanical seal is damaged, the pump body will leak. If a direct coupled pump is used, the motor will be damaged once the medium in the pump body penetrates into the motor. Therefore, the quality of mechanical seals is crucial.

To improve the service efficiency of the pump and extend the service life of the mechanical shaft seal of the pump, reasonable use and maintenance at ordinary times are the key. Many users of mechanical seals often ignore the problem of letting the pump idle without media. This kind of empty transition will cause great damage to the mechanical seal, not only greatly increasing the wear of the mechanical seal itself, but also causing more serious damage to the seals due to the high temperature generated by high-speed friction. In fact, many users complain that this is the reason why the mechanical seal of XX was damaged within a short time. Therefore, we must pay attention to this detail in the use of the pump - the pump cannot idle!  

How to disassemble and repair mechanical seal?

After removing the mechanical seal, first check the pump body installed with the organic seal, which must meet the following requirements:

1. Maximum shaft bending ≤ 0.05mm, axial displacement ≤ 0.05mm.

2. The runout at the sealing ring of the moving ring is ≤ 0.01mm.

3. The surface roughness of the shaft or shaft sleeve at the installation part of the mechanical seal is 1.6 μ m. The surface roughness in contact with the sealing surface of the stationary ring is 3.2 μ m。                

How to repair the mechanical seal:

1. Check all components of mechanical seal. All components must be complete and undamaged, and the sealing surfaces of the moving and stationary rings must be free of scratches, bruises and other defects. If any damage is found, the mechanical seal must be repaired or replaced.

2. Check whether the spring force becomes smaller, and replace the spring if it becomes smaller.

3. Check whether the inner wall of the seal body and the inner surface of the seal end cover are damaged. If any problem is found, repair it in time.
